Mahdia is located on a small promontory 45 km to the South from Monastir city. It is the farthest in the South (except for Jerba Island) Tunisia pleasure resort. The tourist infrastructure is not so highly developed here as in Suss. This place is perfect for those who like quiet holydays.
Medina is a “historical part” of the resort. It is a medieval city surrounded by the fortress walls. A picturesque Mahdia quay with numerous shops, cafes and restaurants is the tourists’ favourite place to walk.
Mahdia is famous for its white-sand beaches. Almost every hotel is situated by the sea and has its own beaches.Mahdia underwater flora and fauna can be especially interesting for experienced divers; however beginners will have no problems with underwater-swimming lessons.
