Many Golden Riviera city-resorts are concentrated around Burgas. Pomoriye is located 20 km to the Northeast from Burgas. This resort was founded by the Greek colonists in IV century B.C. and already in those times it was famous for its salty lakes many of which were considered sacred. Nowadays the city is known for cognac and wine production, sea salt production and medicinal mud.
The resort’s places of note are the largest in Bulgaria wine-cellar “Pomoriye”, the Thracian Tomb and St. George monastery.
